This presentation will provide an evidence-based, up-to-date overview of the immunological basis of common cutaneous disorders. This “immunology overview” will enable novice and expert dermatology nurses and APRNs to understand how our immune system protects us from skin conditions, and what factors play a role in developing conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and urticaria. In addition, we will provide an overview of how targeted therapies such as biologics, JAK inhibitors and topical therapies work to help control chronic, immune-mediated dermatoses.
Learning Objectives:
Understand basic immunologic cells that play a role in skin homeostasis.
Understand key cytokines involved in dermatoses pathogenesis.
Understand key therapeutic targets for the management of common dermatoses.
